Xi Jinping leads China’s largest military parade in decades: Video
China staged its largest military parade in decades on Wednesday, September 3, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in Beijing.
The event, lasting 70 minutes, showcased cutting-edge military equipment and placed China’s global influence on display.
President Xi Jinping inspected the troops at the beginning of the ceremony. Advanced weapons systems, including missiles, tanks, and fighter jets, were exhibited, with hundreds of domestically-built aircraft and ground armaments participating in the parade.
World leaders from 26 countries attended, reflecting the international significance of the occasion. Notable figures included Russia’s Vladimir Putin, DPRK leader Kim Jong-un, Iran’s Masoud Pezeshkian, Zimbabwe’s Emmerson Mnangagwa, Slovakia’s Robert Fico, and Serbia’s Aleksandar Vucic.
The commemorations mark the end of the Second World War and the Second Sino-Japanese War, situating China at the centre of global policy trends through military and diplomatic presence. The Victory Day Parade has become the landmark event of the 80th anniversary celebrations.
